This explains in plain words what Dish Cycle keeps about you, why, and how to remove it.

1. Who runs Dish Cycle

Dish Cycle (dishcycle.com) is a meal planning and shopping list app run by Luan To. Questions about privacy can go to toluan@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Your account: the email address you sign in with and the name you choose to give. You sign in with a code or link sent to your email, so there is no password to store.

What you and your household put in the app: meals, recipes, ingredients and notes, the week plan, shopping lists and what was bought, task lists, chat messages, votes on meals, and who is in charge of a meal.

Settings: your preferences, such as the view and theme. Some are saved in your browser only.

A sign-in cookie, so you stay signed in (for up to 30 days). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Optional: a ZIP code, if you enter one, to find restaurants near you. Your search words are sent to Google Places to show suggestions.

3. Google Calendar (only if you connect it)

Connecting Google Calendar is optional and is done by the household owner. When you connect it, Dish Cycle asks Google for two permissions:

  • See the list of calendars you can write to, so you can pick one.
  • View and edit events, so Dish Cycle can create, move and delete the all-day events for your planned meals.

What Dish Cycle does with that access: it creates one all-day event for each planned meal in the calendar you pick, and updates or removes those events when your plan changes. It remembers which events it created. It does not read the other events in your calendar.

Dish Cycle stores a sign-in token from Google (a refresh token) so it can keep the calendar up to date. The token is stored encrypted.

Dish Cycle's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide this calendar feature. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not used to train AI or machine learning models, and not shared with anyone else.

To stop it at any time, tap Disconnect in Preferences, next to Google Calendar sync. That removes the events Dish Cycle created and tells Google to drop the permission. You can also remove Dish Cycle at myaccount.google.com/connections.

4. How we use it

To run the app: to show your household's meals, plans and lists to its members, to sign you in, to send the sign-in emails, and to keep your calendar up to date if you connected one.

To keep the service working and secure, and to fix problems you report.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

5. Who can see it

Members of your household see what the household shares (the meals, plan, shopping list, tasks and chat). That is the point of a household. The owner can remove members.

The person who runs Dish Cycle can reach the database for support and maintenance, for example to fix a problem you report.

Companies that help us run the service: Hostinger (hosting and the database), Google (Calendar, if you connect it, and Places for restaurant search), and our email sending service for sign-in emails. They handle data only to provide those services.

We may share information if the law requires it.

6. Where it is kept, and how it is protected

Your data is stored on servers at Hostinger. Connections to dishcycle.com are encrypted (HTTPS), and Google sign-in tokens are encrypted in the database.

No online service can promise perfect security, but we take care to protect what you give us.

7. How long we keep it

Your household data stays until you or the household owner delete it, or the household is deleted. While a household exists, the record of recent shopping list changes is kept for about 90 days and then dropped.

When a household is deleted, its meals, plans, shopping lists, invites, change records and in-app backups are deleted with it.

If you delete a single meal or item, it can remain in a daily backup for up to 14 days. Backups kept by our hosting company may last a little longer.

To delete your account or your household's data, email us. We will remove it, and the Google calendar events Dish Cycle made, if asked.

8. Your choices

Disconnect Google Calendar at any time (see section 3).

Export your household's data with Export Data in Account, in the gear menu.

Edit or delete your meals, lists and notes in the app whenever you like.

Ask us to delete your account or your data, or to tell you what we hold about you, by emailing us.

9. Children

Dish Cycle is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters a lot, we will say so in the app.
